Live migration to VMware vSphere 8 with HA cluster and vSAN ESA on 3 new HP DL380 Gen11 hosts, NVMe all-flash. DR site replication at a hosting partner in the Mecenate area.

Introduction of Microsoft Entra ID with Business Premium plan, EDR Microsoft Defender for Business, Veeam Backup & Replication with immutable copy on Wasabi object storage, centralized logs with Wazuh open source. Internal training of the IT contact.

Context and problem

Solution adopted

Replacement with HPE Apollo 4200 Gen11 (dedicated storage server), 60 SAS 4 TB disks in RAID 60, continuous replication to the secondary San Donato site. SSO MFA, EDR, centralised logs.

Context and problem

Logistics operator in San Zenone al Lambro, 80 staff, Manhattan SCALE WMS on a saturated SQL Server 2016. Slowdowns between 9-12 and 14-18 with thousands of picks/hour, operator errors and shipping delays.

Solution adopted

Migration to SQL Server 2022 + 256 GB RAM sizing on new Dell R660xs server with NVMe in RAID 10 + separate tempdb. Index optimization, statistics, automatic maintenance.

Context and problem

Cooperative dairy in the Cremona area, 23 supplying farms, production of 50,000 wheels of Grana Padano/year. Stim-Stalla management server on a single 12-year-old physical server with a SATA disk in degraded RAID 5. Imminent failure.

Solution adopted

Express replacement with HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen11 AMD EPYC, 64 GB DDR5 ECC, NVMe RAID 1 + SAS RAID 10 for historical archive. PostgreSQL migration with dump-restore in a weekend window.

Context and problem

4-star hotel in Bormio, 90 rooms, Protel PMS on a physical server in a damp basement. Partial flooding in May 2024 (sirocco + melted snow at altitude). Summer season looming.

Solution adopted

Server saved at the last minute, data recovered from the nightly backup on a Synology NAS. Server relocated to the first floor in a dedicated cabinet with split air conditioning, dual APC UPS with SNMP monitoring. Migration to 100% standard remote assistance (3h from Melzo is excessive for emergencies).
